Late summer and fall are packed with festivals around the Atlanta metro area. It’s still pretty hot out there, but August holds the promise of cooler temperatures soon to come, and even though I was dripping sweat at the Pigs & Peaches BBQ Festival today, it got me pumped for some of the other upcoming events. This is by no means a complete list, but here are a few that I’ve enjoyed in the past or caught my eye to check out in the future (I also post events regularly on the Southern Doorway FB page here):
2015 Festivals
Grant Park Summer Shade – Aug. 29-30
Decatur Book Festival – Sep. 4-6
Dragon Con – Sep. 4-7
Marietta Art in the Park -Sep. 5-7

Old Fourth Ward Fall Festival and Lantern Parade Sep. 11-12
Yellow Daisy Festival – Stone Mountain, Sep. 10-13
Roswell Arts Festival – Sep. 19-20
Marietta Street Fest – Sep. 19-20
North Georgia State Fair – Sep. 24-Oct. 4

Historic Oakland Cemetery Sunday in the Park – Oct. 4
Brookhaven Chili Cookoff – Oct. 10
Walker Stalker Con – Oct. 30-Nov. 1
Cabbagetown Stomp and Chomp – Nov. 7

As for Pigs & Peaches, keep an eye out for it next August if you are a BBQ fan. I sampled two of the vendors this year, Ebony & Ivory‘s fall-off-the-bone ribs and J.D.’s BBQ‘s melt-in-the-mouth, well, everything. My husband ordered the chicken, me the pork, and we just happened to be standing in the right spot to be offered a rib sample fresh out of the smoker.

What are you looking forward to this fall?
